Controller
- Can I drive a motor of the rated voltage of 12 V or less with a MCH-5 controller?
-
The input-voltage rating of a MCH-5 is from 12 V to 24 V DC. The input power supply is internally divided into the control-power supply and the motor-power supply.
Since the control-power supply of a MCH-5 supports from 10 V to 30 V DC, the power supply from 10 V to 12 V can be input.
When the motor power supply voltage drops, the motor torque drops accordingly. Therefore, the expected motor torque cannot be output by the MCH-5 with 10 V to 12V DC power supply.
Also, the AC adaptor that comes with MCH-5 is for 12 V DC output, so you need an adaptor separately.
- Can I drive multiple AD1431 drivers by one MCH-5 controller?
-
Yes, you can. You can output motor control pulses externally from a MCH-5. By using the output pulses, you can connect it with separate drivers such as AD1431. The pulse-output interface of MCH-5 can be connected up to two AD1431s to control.
- What are the settings and precautions when I control a MCH-5 by connecting to the upper host PLC?
-
Pay attention to the following four points:
1.Set the MCH-5 to enable the the external input.
2.Keep the grounds of the PLC and MCH-5 in common.
3.When inputting the Start-Stop signals to No. 2 pin of CN3 connector by pulse signals, do not set the pulse width too small (Ensure the pulse width for several tens of ms).
4.The current flowing when the signal is turned ON is approximately 0.5 mA. The voltage is 5V.
- Is it possible to repeat a forward-reverse motor rotation by specifying the number of rotation times with a FMC32 controller? What is the programming method?
-
Possible.
Create two movement patterns with the dedicated programming tool software.
You use variable commands (value setting, decrement, etc.) to set the number of times.
- The drive current of the drivers in a FMC32 is 500 mA. What is the minimum current that can be output?
-
The minimum output value is the minimum setting value of the volume, which is 0 A.
- When connecting an external driver to a FMC32, do I need to prepare an external power supply of 5 V for Interface?
-
The output of a FMC32 is via an open-collector (74LS07), so an external power supply for interface is required when connecting to an external driver. The maximum allowable collector voltage of 74LS07 is 30 V, so the external power supply can be 12 V or 24 V as well as 5 V. For 5V, you can use the 5 V output of a FMC32 (CN3-12).
- Regarding the USB/SPI conversion connector of a FMC32, can I use the functions of the integrated LSI(PCD2112) from an external CPU by connecting the FMC32 and the CPU using SPI port ?
-
The pins for SPI communication of PCD2112 are connected to CN4, so you can use the functions of PCD2112 from an external CPU.
- In the driver external connection mode of a FMC32 , I want to turn off the excitation during WAIT to reduce heat generation. At the end of one operation pattern, can I turn off the excitation by the Excitation-OFF command?
-
Yes, you can turn off the excitation by the following commands:
Excitation OFF
WAITxx
Excitation ON
Operation pattern
Driver
- What precautions should I take when powering off AD11x1?
-
Regarding AD11x1, if the logic power is turned off while the VM is connected to a motor, the voltage of VM rises instantaneously (in about 0.5 ms) due to regenerative electromotive force from the motor coil, and reverse current (regenerative current) flows from the driver side to the power supply side.
This may cause a negative impact on the power supply.
It is recommended to turn of the logic power supply after the VM power supply is turned off.
- When I supply the motor power to a driver connected to a 2-phase stepping motor, how much capacity should I prepare for the power supply?
-
It is difficult to calculate because it depends on the motor connected. Pleaes consider a capacity of 1.5 times excitation current per phase. In practice, we recommend to measure and determine the current at standstill and during operation.
